Scheduled C-Section-May 12th at 9am

As of yesterday, Jackson is still in the breech position. I can feel his head right underneath my rib cage. Dr. Hiuga (our obstetrician) says that the larger he grows, the less likely he will turn, although it is possible. If he does turn, we will cancel the C-Section and proceed with a regular birth (with an epidural of course!!). We elected not to do the external version. We feel there is too much risk and no guarantee that the procedure will even work.

We will be in the hospital for 3 days if all goes well and will be released on Friday the 15th. We will be at Sutter Memorial Hospital on F Street in Sacramento.
Cant believe he will be here in less than two weeks! It's exciting and scary at the same time.
I plan on working until May 7th.

April 16th Progress Report

On our last appointment with our regular Dr., there was concern that Jackson was not growing at the rate he should be. The Dr. thought he might be a bit small.. (hey, we arent huge people, so we werent surprised to hear that!). As a precaution, we had an ultrasound done today with Dr. Veille. Jackson weighs about 5lb 13oz and is perfectly average in size. Dr. Veille predicts he will be about 7lbs when he is born.
The bad news is that Jackson is currently in the breech position which means he hasnt turned to make his final decent "head first". He has about a week to turn around on his own before he runs out of room. If he doesn't turn, we have to consider the option of attempting to turn him by a process called "external version" or opt for a good ol' C-Section!!
He already has a mind of his own!
I'm still feeling good for the most part except a backache and a bloody nose again this morning.
Good times!!

Progress Report

My last Dr. appt went very well. Jackson is growing at the rate he is supposed to, his heart rate is strong and I only gained a pound in two weeks (according to the scale) :) I made sure that I wore a "light" outfit that day.
The baby shower was this weekend at my Moms best friend Barbaras house. It was a wonderful day and it made me realize what a wonderful family and what great friends that I have. Jackson is one LUCKY little boy to have so many aunties who already love him so much! I'll be posting pictures of the nursery soon once things are more organized.
Tonight, we take a tour of the hospital to see the location where Jackson will make his debut and meet the staff that is going to help him join us.

Nursery is coming together

Jacksons room is coming along nicely. My cousin Dina, my Mom, and my friend Jeanette all helped paint and they did a fabulous job! Rich and I put togehter the new stroller and car seat over the weekend, too. Slowly but surely we are getting ready. Tonight is our 3rd Childbirth class. We are learning breathing techniques to help me cope with contractions. I plan on having an epidural so not sure how much I will need the breathing but its good to have the skill set just in case.
I've been having trouble getting to sleep because my back hurts, but other than that, I am feeling fine. Jackson has been really active lately. We have a Dr. Appt this afternoon. We will let you know how that goes.

SEA LIFE!!

We moved the crib, dresser and changing table over the weekend and I could not be happier with it! Its perfect and we got a great deal! We have decided to decorate Jacksons room with a Sea Life theme. We plan on painting the walls on Sunday a color called "Seaglass".

We went to our first Childbirth class last night. We are going to learn about labor and all of the options available to us. There were about 10 other couples that are having their first child as well. It's fun to be around others who are going through the same process that we are!

30 week Ultrasound

We went to see Dr. Veille yesterday for Jackson's 30 week ultrasound. He is doing very well and growing right on schedule. His heartbeat was 130 beats per minute. He weighs 3.9 lbs and was sleeping during the ultrasound. He would not let us take a good picture of him as he was covering his face with his hand. His head was up near my rib cage. We hope he decides to turn upside down on his own over the next month.
We are moving the crib, dresser, and changing table to the house this weekend! Still trying to decide on a nursery theme...Sea life or Safari??? Decisions, decisions...

Glucose Test Passed!

After enduring a 15 hr fast and having my blood taken 4 times in 3 hours, we found out that we passed the 2nd glucose test. Whew! What a relief...
Glad that one is behind us.
We are beginning our 28th week! At 30 weeks, we have a growth ultrasound scheduled with our favorite French Perinatologist, Dr. Veille.
Cant wait to see Jackson again..
He is very active these days. I think this kid might be a soccer player based on whats going on in my belly!

We failed the test...

The test we took last week showed that my glucose levels were high, so as a precaution, we have to take a subsequent test. On Tuesday, I have to fast for 12 hours, drink a sugary liquid and have my blood taken once an hour for 3 hours. Hopefully, the levels will come back fine and the testing will be over.
We purchased Jackson's crib, changing table, and dresser yesterday from a nice family in Folsom. Slowly but surely we are getting ready.
We went to a movie last night and when there were loud noises from the film, Jackson would move.

He kicked!

Last night, around 1opm, I felt Jackson kick(felt more like a thump) for the first time! It was so exciting..It brought tears to my eyes. Since then, I have felt him move a few more times! It finally feels real!
I have been feeling great except for a bit of dizziness every now and then. We have been walking every day for about 45 minutes to an hour to get our exercise.
I've been craving a lot of Chicken lately and my latest craving was Cheetos (something I never would have craved before I was pregnant!
We are going to the Dr. tomorrow and will hear Jacksons heartbeat and on Wednesday, I have to take a Glucose Test (standard test to detect gestational diabetes).
I will post new pictures soon! We are entering our 26th week of pregnancy!

Our guys has all of his chromosomes

We decided to have an amnioscentisis test conducted to make sure our little guy had all of his chromosomes and was not at risk for downs syndrome or neural tube defects. We are very delighted to inform you that he has all of his chromosomes (not to few or too many). The test results came back normal!
I havent felt him move yet and am anxiously awaiting that day! He is growing and is probably the size of a banana from head to toe.

We started a blog so you could all track the progress of our little guy.
We will post pictures and updates as they are available.
We expect Jackson to arrive on May 19, 2009!
